The University of Iceland graduates over 2,600 candidates on Saturday

Over 2,600 candidates will graduate with undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Iceland on Saturday, June 13, and as in previous years, there will be two graduation ceremonies at Laugardalshöll. Both ceremonies will be streamed online.

In the first graduation ceremony, which starts at 10.00 a.m., undergraduate and postgraduate candidates from the Schools of Social Sciences, Health Sciences, and Humanities receive their degree certificates. The total number of graduates from the School of Social Sciences is 738, 566 from the School of Health Sciences, and 401 from the School of Humanities.

The second ceremony starts at 13.30 p.m. for candidates graduating from undergraduate and graduate studies from the School of Education and the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences. The total number of graduates from the School of Education is 654 and 280 from the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences.

Overall, 2,639 candidates will graduate from the University of Iceland on Saturday.

This is Silja Bára R. Ómarsdóttir’s first spring graduation since she was appointed Rector of the university. Silja Bára will give addresses at both ceremonies. Additionally, Judith Lucia Bischof, MS in practical psychology, and Myrkvi M. W. Stefánsson, BS in chemical engineering, will address guests on behalf of candidates at the two ceremonies.

445 candidates graduated from the University of Iceland in February, bringing the total this year to 3,084.

Candidates have received letters with further details on the organisation of the ceremony, and University staff will be on-site to assist and guide candidates on seating arrangements.
