Nine students at the University of Iceland will spend eight weeks this summer at the renowned Stanford University in California, participating in their International Honors Program (IHP). The programme offers students a unique opportunity to experience an international academic and research community, while the courses they complete can be credited towards their degrees at the University of Iceland.
The students selected for the programme this year are Askur Freyr Andrason, Ás Teitur Andrason and Inga Rakel Aradóttir, all mechanical engineering students; Áslaug Edda Kristjánsdóttir, engineering physics; Elín Snæfríður Maximiliansdóttir Conrad, law; Hrafnkell Stefán Hannesson, applied mathematics; Mist Reykdal Magnúsdóttir, chemistry; Pétur Orri Pétursson, economics, and Þorvaldur Wilhelm Sigurjónsson, environmental and civil engineering.
Alongside their studies, the students will take part in activities focused on innovation and entrepreneurship and visit nearby Silicon Valley.
Stanford, one of the world’s leading universities, has partnered with the University of Iceland on the summer programme since 2010. With this year’s group, the total number of University of Iceland students who have taken part in the IHP will rise to 110.
