Between June 16 and 20, eight representatives from the University of Iceland took part in exciting Erasmus+ BIP courses that were held by Universitat Rovira i Virgili, UI‘s partner within the Aurora university partnership. The courses took place in the sunny city of Tarragona, Spain where around seventy participants from fifteen countries came together to learn more about the use of artificial intelligence in teaching or to strengthen their abilities as Ph.D students.
Artificial intelligence or doctoral studies?
Of eight people in the group, five did the course on artificial intelligence and it‘s use in university teaching whereas the other three chose the course for doctoral students which turned out to be quite demanding.
The course schedules were different, reflecting the different subjects. The course on artificial intelligence was taught from nine o‘clock in the morning until the afternoon whereas the doctoral students were sat in class until six o‘clock in the evenings where they gained a wealth of knowledge and were introduced to various tools to pursue their doctoral studies.
An opportunity to connect – and enjoy
Despite the differing schedules the participants did have the opportunity to get to know one another and the city. They went on a tour of Tarragona and during meals they shared not only tapas, but ideas and stories too. An unusually high heat in the area made its presence felt throughout the course but smiles and good company made all the difference so that everyone went home with newly acquired knowledge, connections and warm memories.
