Around 100 University students and staff embarked on the University run on Wednesday 2 April.
The run has had this format for fourteen years running. The aim of the run is to gather both students and staff for a fun event on campus and to contribute to a healthier campus community. The organisation of the run was in the hands of students in the course Events and Project Management in Sports in the UI programme sport and health sciences at the University of Iceland, in collaboration with the University’s Division of Marketing and Public Relations and Human Resources.
The runners could choose two running routes: 3K and 7 K. The 3 K route was by Suðurgata, to Reykjavík airport and passing Vatnsmýri Nature Reserve. This year, a new seven-kilometre running route was offered by Suðurgata, extending to Ægisíða and then returning along the coast and around Skerjafjörður, continuing to Reykjavik Airport, and along the nature reserve in Vatnsmýri.
