The programmes take at least three years to fulfil if taken as full time study.

Our professors have diverse educational, industrial, and research experience, and are active in many of the principal areas of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Applicants need to have found a supervisor and have an idea of a project before applying.

Prospective applicants are asked to contact the Head of Department or Faculty in the relevant research field.

Certified copies of diplomas on paper (not scanned or photocopies) must be submitted no later than two weeks after the application deadline.

Research

Research in the Faculty of Environmental and Civil Engineering is carried out under the auspices of the Engineering Research Institute, the venue for engineering research at the University of Iceland. The faculty is also party to Georg, GEOthermal Research Group.

Research is primarily carried out in four fields:

  • Energy Studies and Load Bearing Capacity Studies
  • Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering
  • Geotechnics, road construction, transportation
  • Planning and execution studies

Courses in the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
