Students at the University of Iceland can apply for scholarships for graduate study or research at universities in the U.S. the academic year 2022-2023. This is the seventeenth year the Leifur Eiriksson Foundation funds the grants.

Opportunities for students to study and conduct research in the U.S. are extensive. Past research disciplines have included law, medicine, film, mathematics, psychology and mechanical engineering. Students have studied at Yale University, Columbia University, Julliard, MIT, the University of Pennsylvania, University of Virginia among others.

The scholarships provide stipends of up to $25,0000, a sum calculated to help cover tuition and fees, living expenses and support costs for a full academic year in the U.S. The Leifur Eiriksson Foundation expects to fund at least ten scholarships for 2022-2023.

The application deadline is November 19, 2021 for the academic year 2022-2023.
