Isabel Alejandra Diaz amongst other students at University of Iceland

The latest Aurora newsletter features interesting interviews with Emily Reise, international relations officer in the UI Student Council and secretary of the Aurora Student Council, and Francesca Stoppani, one of two UI students volunteering on the Aurora Student Champions Scheme. Emily was elected secretary of the Aurora Student Council last autumn and will hold the position for one year.

In the interview, Emily explains that her goal was to increase awareness of Aurora and spark interest in Aurora among students at the University of Iceland. She has focused on reaching students through social media, which she has used to highlight events, content related to Aurora and courses open to Aurora students. The thing that stands out about Aurora for Emily is the emphasis on giving students a seat at every table. She is also excited to see more collaborative courses among Aurora universities.

Francesca Stoppani is an MA student from Italy studying political science and natural resources management, with a focus on the Arctic region. Francesca explained the interdisciplinarity and networking opportunities that Aurora offers. She values the perspective that everyone brings something to the table and is also inspired by the academics she is working with.
