The University of Iceland offers students with immigrant background who wish to pursue higher education to take part in the project Sprettur. The programme offers support to students in upper secondary schools in preparing for university studies.
This is the fifth year since the programme Sprettur has been offered at the University. There are currently 32 students involved in the project.
What is Sprettur about?
The programme supports students in their studies but also socially and financially.
Students meet three times a month for four years and each one is assigned a mentor or supervisor.
Who can apply?
You can apply:
If you are a student and have three years left in upper secondary school.
- are 18 years old
- are currently in upper secondary school
- enjoy school and want to go to university
- have an immigrant or refugee background
- come from a family where few or none have a university education
Forty students will be selected to take part in Sprettur for four years (three in upper secondary school and the first year of university.)
