The District Directors for the Members of the US Congress recently came to the University of Iceland as a part of their study trip to Iceland. All the District Directors work for members of Congress who are to some extent involved in environmental and energy affairs. Their agenda thus included sightseeing in geothermal areas and power plants; ministries and Althing parliament.

Friðrika Harðardóttir, Director of the University of Iceland's International Office, and Daði Már Kristófersson, Dean of the School of Social Sciences, welcomed the delegation on behalf of the University of Iceland, with a group of students in environment and natural resources and political science. After a brief presentation of the University of Iceland and the university's collaboration with universities and research institutes in the United States; the students and District Directors were divided into discussion groups; creating an excellent platform to discuss relations between Iceland and the United States and the challenges facing the two countries in energy and environmental issues. The discussions proved successful and an excellent forum to share results and experience.
