Orientation Days for International students begin today when the University of Iceland welcomes more than six hundred international students who begin their studies at the University of Iceland this semester.
The University of Iceland welcomes all international students at the beginning of each semester by organising happenings, events and courses designed for new international students. The aim is to introduce students to each other as well as to the support services offered, how to get around campus and to help them adjust to a new culture.
The programme includes various courses, including a crash course in Icelandic, organised walks around campus, reception with music and light refreshments, School welcome meetings and events organised by the Student Council.
All new international students are invited to a welcome reception 24 August at 5 P.M. Students will be addressed by Dr. Steinunn Gestsdóttir, Pro-Rector of Academic Affairs and Development, as well as by the Chairman of the Student Council. The reception includes live music, guided tour around the Campus and light refreshments. After the reception the fun continues in the Student Cellar.
