Graduation from University of Iceland

Almost 2,100 candidates receive their diplomas in both undergraduate and graduate studies tomorrow, Saturday 24 June. There will be two ceremonies in Laugardalshöll as there have been in recent years. 

The first ceremony, at 10.30 is for graduate students when 809 graduates receive their diplomas. The graduation ceremony for students who are completing their graduate studies, i.e. MA, M.Ed. and MS degrees and guests. 

Among the graduates are the first students to graduate with an MA degree in Media and Communication Studies from the Faculty of Political Science. The studies are a collaboration between the University of Iceland's Faculty of Social and Human Sciences and the Faculty of Political Science with the University of Akureyri's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Also among the graduates are the first students to graduate with an MA degree in Methodology from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, and from interdisciplinary studies at the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Business Administration with an MFin degree in Finance.

The latter ceremony, at 2 pm is for undergraduate students who are completing BA, B.Ed. and BS degrees. Total of 1278 candidates complete their studies receiving 1285 diplomas. The first candidate to complete a BS degree in Applied Mathematics from the Faculty of Physical Sciences is among the graduates.

The diplomas will be awarded in the following order by schools: School of Social Sciences, School of Health Sciences, School of Humanities, School of Education, and School of Engineering and Natural Sciences. Diplomas from the School of Social Sciences will be 634 in total, 510 from the School of Health Sciences, 273 from the School of Humanities, 335 from the School of Education, and 335 from the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences.

The total of graduating students from the University of Iceland on 24 June is thus 2,087 receiving 2,094 diplomas.

The graduates from the University of Iceland in February were 455 in total making the total number this year of graduating students from the University of Iceland 2542.
