Over 450 candidates receive their diplomas in both undergraduate and graduate studies from the University of Iceland in Háskólabíó (University Cinema), tomorrow, Saturday 18 February at 1 P.M.
Jón Atli Benediktsson, Rector of the University of Iceland will address guests at the beginning of the ceremony. Then students from all of the five University schools; the School of Social Sciences, the School of Health Sciences, the School of Humanities, School of Education, and the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences will graduate. The total number of graduates is 455, thereof 329 women and 126 men. 179 candidates graduate from the School of Social Sciences, 78 from the School of Health Sciences, 77 from the School of Humanities, 51 from the School of Education and 70 from the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences. Among the candidates is the first student to graduate with an MS degree in Bioinformatics from the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences.
After the graduation of all candidates the vice chair of the Student Council will address the ceremony and the University choir will sing a few songs.
Graduation candidates will be seated in a specified area in Háskólabíó and are kindly asked to be there no later than at 12 noon. A list with the names of candidates and seat numbers will be distributed on graduation day and candidates receive their certificates according to their seat number. University staff will be on site and provide assistance.
