NonfictioNOW - Reykjavík 2017

The next NonfictioNOW conference will be held in Reykjavík from 2–4 June 2017, hosted by the University of Iceland. NonfictioNOW is a regular international gathering of more than 500 innovative and creative nonfiction writers.

“The University of Iceland is proud to welcome NonfictioNOW to the land of the midnight sun, of volcanoes and hot springs but especially the land of literature and music and whistling wind. Reykjavík, one of the first cities in the world to be nominated a UNESCO City of Literature, is an ideal location for NonfictioNOW in 2017 with its thriving contemporary literary scene and wealth of writers with international careers.” Rúnar Helgi Vignisson

Founded at the University of Iowa, in 2015 the conference was held at Northern Arizona University, and in 2012 in Melbourne Australia, at RMIT University.

Robin Hemley, President of the NonfictioNOW Board said:
“NonfictioNOW has for many years sparked important conversations among current writers, teachers, and readers, and has inspired important book projects and at least one film. Such conversations should be international in scope, and not limited to the borders of any one literary community. We are thrilled to be extending this conversation to Reykjavik in 2017 and beyond.”

NonfictioNOW is unique in being neither a conventional academic conference nor a writers’ festival, but rather, a conversation among peers, from well-established writers and artists to those just starting out. NonfictioNOW gathers leading writers from around the world to share notes with emerging peers and audiences on the intricate challenges and intriguing delights of writing and reading nonfiction.
