Graduation ceremony at University of Iceland

A ceremony to mark the graduation of 411 students from graduate and post-graduate programmes takes place in the University Cinema tomorrow, Saturday 20 February at 1 PM. This is the first graduation ceremony overseen by the new Rector, Jón Atli Benediktsson.

Students from all of the University Schools, School of Social Sciences, School of Health Sciences, School of Humanities, School of Education and School of Engineering and Natural Sciences, receive their diplomas at the ceremony. The total number of graduates is 411 with 411 diplomas, 211 have completed undergraduate studies and 200 who have completed graduate studies. Among the graduates is the first student to graduate with an MS degree in Earth Sciences.

Aron Ólafsson, President of the Student Council, and Jón Atili Benediktsson, Rector of the University of Iceland will address candidates; this is the first graduation of the latter as Rector. 

Graduation candidates will be seated in a specified area in Háskólabíó and are kindly asked to arrive no later than 12:00. A list with the names of candidates and seat numbers, along with a programme, will be distributed on graduation day and candidates will receive their certificates according to their seat number. University staff will be on site and provide assistance as needed.
