The University of Iceland and Kyoto University in Japan have made an agreement on student exchange. The partnership is a great asset as the Kyoto University is considered one of the two top universities in Japan and among the best universities in Asia. The University boasts ten Nobel laureate; more than any other university in Asia.

Kyoto University offers a good variety of programmes in English in most fields of study and is open to students in both undergraduate and graduate studies. The collaboration creates an exciting opportunity for University students to take part of their studies at an excellent university in Japan.

The university is in the north part of Kyoto city, the capital of Japan until 1868 when Tokyo replaced it. The old emperor palace and various other cultural heritages are well preserved in Kyoto, making it popular among tourists.

An emissary from Kyoto University, Toshiyuki Yokota, Head of International Education and student exchange, brought the agreement to Iceland signed by Juichi Yamagiwa, Rector of Kyoto University. Jón Atli Benediktsson, Rector, signed the agreement on behalf of the University of Iceland on 2 February 2016.
