People at University centre, University of Iceland

Doctoral Grants from University of Iceland Research Fund / Eimskip University Fund are currently open for applications. The purpose of the doctoral grants is to strengthen the University of Iceland as an international research university and to stimulate research-based postgraduate studies.

Eligible applicants; students and academic staff, must meet requirements set by the rules of the funds and the University’s standards for supervisors for research-based postgraduate studies

The rules of these funds are stated here.

In addition to the regular grants, a grant has been reserved this year for research in aviation related fields. This grant is funded by Isavia and may provide funding for up to three years.

The deadline for applications is January 15th 2016. Applications should be in Icelandic or English. There are two alternatives for the application form:

Supervisor and student apply together (opt. a)

Supervisor applies for a project and, if grant is awarded, advertises for a student (opt. b)

The online application form is available here.

Note: the application form is in Icelandic, but there are guidelines in English and criteria for evaluation of Ph.D. applications, on the website given above.
