Two representatives from the Organisation for PhD Education in Biomedicine and Health Sciences in the European System came for a two day visit at the School of Health Sciences to finalize the quality assessment of the School’s PhD studies.
The Dean of the School of Health Sciences turned in a report on the School’s PhD studies in March 2014. The report included the School’s answers to a series of questions on doctoral studies, regulations and procedures, and information on the School’s website. The school’s standing committee dealing with matters pertaining to doctoral studies has been working on the quality assessment for quite some time.
During the appraisal the committee from ORPHEUS held met with and interviewed over thirty individuals; i.e. representatives from research institutes, supervisors, doctoral students, as well as the school‘s standing committee.
It is an honour to announce that PhD studies at the School of Health sciences will be awarded the ORPHEUS quality assurance. Pursuant to the quality assurance will be regular follow-up to ensure that the quality of the school’s PhD studies is maintained in a reasonable fashion, and increased where deemed necessary. The University of Iceland is the fifth university in Europe to receive this certification.
