Collaboration with Guangdong University

The University of Iceland and Guandong University of Foreign Studies signed a cooperation agreement at the end of September. Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) is a major international university in South China, known for its global-minded faculty/students and its research on international languages, literature, culture, trade, and strategic studies. The University serves over 20,000 full-time undergraduate students, nearly 3,000 graduate students, and over 12,000 international and continuing-education students.  

The university is located in Guangzhou, the capital of the Guandong Province, also known as Canton. The province has topped the total GPD rankings among all provincial-level divisions in China. Hong Kong shares borders with Guandong province, a centre for import / export and fishing industry. 

Jón Atli Benediktsson, Rector, and Sui Guangjun, Chairman of the University Board, signed the agreement on collaboration and student exchange during a visit from a delegation from the Guandong University of Foreign Studies in Iceland.
