Applied science prize

The UI Applied Science Prize will be presented for the 17th time 19 November. The selection committee is looking for utilizable ideas from students and staff at the University of Iceland and affiliated institutes. This year the prize money has been increased considerably.

Students and staff from all fields of study are encouraged to take part in the competition as experience has shown that solutions outside the field of technological solutions in industry have also played an important role in the competition.

Like last year there is a cash prize for the first three places, two million ISK for first place, one million ISK for second place and 500 thousand for the third place. The prize money has doubled from last year and is now in total 3.5 million ISK.

The selection committee looks to the following factors in their selection:

  1. Methods in utilization and how fast the idea can be applied
  2. Whether the utilization is in accordance with UI policy and practises
  3. The research behind the project/idea
  4. Novelty and originality
  5. The gain for the community

Further information and the application form can be found on the Division of Science and Innovation’s website (in Icelandic).

Deadline for proposals is Friday 26 October.

The applied science competition is a collaboration of the University of Iceland, Árnason| aktor, and Innovation Center Iceland.
