Online voting in the elections for the rector of the University of Iceland is currently underway. Polling began at 9 a.m. this morning and will end at 6 p.m.

As of 1 p.m., roughly 33% of eligible voters had cast their votes. More detailed information on voter turnout can be seen below:

The two candidates are Guðrún Nordal, Professor and Director of the Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies; and Jón Atli Benediktsson, Professor and Pro-Rector of Academic Affairs at the University of Iceland.

Instructions for online voting: A banner appears on the University website (www.hi.is) and in Ugla saying:  "Elections for rector 2015. Click here to vote." Clicking on the banner will take you directly to the voting page. Voters will need to enter their Ugla username and password to access the page. 

Computer labs and assistance with online voting: Computer lab 204 in the University Centre is specially reserved for election day. An employee from UI Computing Services is present to provide assistance, should any technical problems arise. The IT Help Desk in the University Centre is also open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., tel. 525-4222
