Criminal Jurisdiction book cover

Jurisdiction in criminal matters is one of the central issues concerning criminal justice. A new book on Criminal Jurisdiction – a Nordic Perspective, was published recently. Ragnheiður Bragadóttir, Professor at the UI‘s Faculty of Law is the author of the Icelandic chapter.

Criminal Jurisdiction – A Nordic Perspective is the product of a collaborative research conducted by Nordic and German academics on criminal jurisdiction in the Nordic countries. The research has international relevance as globalization has made jurisdiction increasingly relevant for legislators, prosecutors and judges all over, as stated in the introduction of the book. The publication contains a chapter from each of the Nordic countries and an additional chapter on Nordic criminal jurisdiction in an international context. The results will also be published in German this spring.

Regulations on jurisdiction stipulate the boundaries towards foreign jurisdictions and courts of law, and adhere to laws of each state. These regulations must, however, be in accordance with those in other states, to facilitate international interaction. These regulations are increasingly important due to globalization even though there have not been many publications in this field hitherto.

The book is published by Djoef Publishing, the editors are Thomas Elholm & Birgit Feldtmann. Further information on the book.
