Eight University students will study at Stanford University in the United States this summer in the Stanford Summer International Honors Program (SSIHP). This summer programme takes eight weeks and all students take accredited courses that are evaluated at the University of Iceland.
Three students received a grant for the programme from Stanford and the University of Iceland; they are currently studying physics and electrical and computer engineering. Other students that are going to Stanford are studying business administration, software engineering, physics, law and psychology. This is the seventh year that students at the University of Iceland have this unique opportunity to attend this distinguished university; former participants have been extremely pleased with their studies there.
Stanford is one of the world’s leading research and teaching institutions. The benefits from the collaboration between Stanford and the University of Iceland are undisputed, but the agreement has been in place since 2010. The courses offered are diverse and the Icelandic students will benefit both from an intense educational experience while exploring academic life at an elite American research university. Many entrepreneurs, who have been involved in founding many international companies known world-wide, come from Stanford.
