Psychological counselling for the children of University students and staff has been increased considerably at the Student Psychology Clinic. MS students in clinical child psychology offer their services under the supervision of Dagmar Kr. Hannesdóttir, PhD, assistant professor at the Faculty of Psychology and specialist in clinical child psychology, with 20 years of experience in the field. Counselling and treatment for parents, children, and teenagers from 3-18 for the following:
- anxiety, phobias and obsessive-compulsive disorder
- depression and low self-esteem
- ADHD and difficult behaviour
- communication skills training
- sleep difficulties
Counselling for adults
The Student Psychology Clinic also provides counselling for adults. In particular, it is looking for adults experiencing the following:
- Depression
- Social anxiety
- Eating disorders
- Sleep difficulties
- Other anxiety-related problems (e.g. panic attacks, general anxiety disorder or obsessive-compulsive disorder)
- Drinking problems
Students and staff pay only 2,500 ISK for each interview, which is considerably less than elsewhere.
If you’re experiencing any problems other than those listed above, please contact the Student Psychology Clinic, and it will be evaluated whether help is available. Please note that a formal diagnostic assessment for ADHD, autism, learning difficulties, or developmental delays does not take place at the Student Psychology Clinic.
