Students of the University of Iceland are invited to take part in „Sálrækt - group counseling“ this winter free of charge. The University has provided this service to students since 2018. The goal is to help students learn to use an evidence based theoretical model to cope with stressful situations related to school, relationships, difficult feelings and more.

Group meetings take place in Miðberg and in Suðurberg that are classrooms in Setberg, the Building of Academic Affairs. There will be 10 meetings this semester held on Wednesdays at 2-3.30 PM. The first one will be 5 October.

Facilitator is dr. Gunnar Hrafn Birgisson, clinical psychologist (www.gunnarbirgisson.com). His theoretical orientation is mainly Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy originated by dr. Albert Ellis, and in Positive Psychology.
