A committee of four from the Tianjin University came to Iceland and visited the University of Iceland to get acquainted with university operations.

Kristín Ingólfsdóttir, Rector of the University of Iceland and Liu Jianping, Chairman of the University CPC Standing Committee, recently signed a partnership agreement enabling students at both universities to apply for exchange studies. Students from all of the University of Iceland Schools can thus take part of their studies at the Tianjin University. The University of Iceland currently has agreements with thirteen Chinese universities.

A committee of four from the Tianjin University came to Iceland and visited the University of Iceland to get acquainted with university operations. This included Chinese studies and The Northern Light Confucius Institute at the University of Iceland, The Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute of Foreign Languages , and work within earth sciences and engineering.

Founded in 1895 as Peiyang University, Tianjin University (TJU) is the first university in China. The University is comprised of 19 schools that combined offer almost 120 programmes of study in both undergraduate and graduate studies; with a total of 29 thousand students.

The University of Iceland can now offer its students exchange studies at 13 Chinese universities, including one of the most prestigious universities in Chine, Tsinghua University as a partnership agreement between the two universities was signed recently.
