The University of Iceland is taking its first step towards improving traffic and the environment on campus by introducing parking fees for those using the university's parking. This change will take effect on 18 August 2025. During the first week, staff and students will have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the new parking arrangements at the university and register for a subscription without the risk of receiving a fine.
The parking zones will be divided into two categories:
- H1: Short-term parking spaces. These are specially marked spaces located closest to the main university buildings. They are subject to a parking fee for all users, in accordance with the published tariff and are not included in long-term parking with a monthly subscription.
- H2: Long-term parking spaces. Staff and students at the University of Iceland may subscribe to use these spaces as long-term parking with a monthly subscription. Other users must pay the hourly rate as specified in the tariff.
Holders of a disabled parking permit may continue to park in paid spaces without charge, in accordance with current traffic laws.
