43 academic members of staff at the University of Iceland have been promoted following a thorough professional evaluation by their school's evaluation and promotion committee and the school dean. Staff at all five schools were promoted.
Academic staff may apply for a promotion every year and these are generally awarded once a year, i.e. at the end of the academic year. Applications are evaluated by a special Promotion Committee, which relies on statements from the evaluation and promotion committee at each individual school. The rector then determines which staff will be promoted, based on verdicts from these committees.
This year, 24 people will be promoted to the position of professor (full professor), 17 to senior lecturer (associate professor) and two to research scholar at the University of Iceland Institute of Research Centres.
