The book The Glaciers of Iceland: A Historical, Cultural and Scientific Overview by Helgi Björnsson, Glaciologist, has been translated by Júlían D'Arcy, Professor of English Literature at the University of Iceland's School of Humanities, and published by Atlantis Press.

The book is based on decades of research by Helgi Björnsson and collaborators at the University of Iceland Science Institute and elsewhere. It describes all of Iceland's major glaciers, Icelanders’ interaction with them, from settlement to the present day and how glaciers have shaped the land and wasted it.  The book is a comprehensive overview and evaluation of the origins, history and current size and condition of the glaciers, as stated on the publisher's website. The Glaciers of Iceland present a wide spectrum of readers with a new and stimulating view of the origins, development and possible future of these massive natural phenomena. Helgi is a world renowned research scientist in the field of glaciology and has studied glaciers and the impact of climate change on them for decades. His writings amount to 260 publications during his long and successful career in science, mostly for specialists, and published in peer-reviewed science journals.

Júlían has translated numerous other pieces of writing, including television plays, pop music lyrics, children's books and novels. He is currently translating a musical based on the book The Story of the Blue Planet by Andri Snær Magnason, winner of the 2014 UKLA Book Award and Íslenskur aðall (e. Icelandic aristocracy) by one of Iceland's most famous authors, Þórbergur Þórðarson.
