The University of Iceland is in place 136 on the Times Higher Education over the 150 best universities for delivering work-ready graduates, according to a large group of international corporations. This is the first time that the University has a place on the Global University Employability Ranking list.
The survey was designed by the French human resources consultancy Emerging, and has been conducted for the past six years by employment research institute Trendence. It has been published exclusively by Times Higher Education since 2015.
The list is based on two extensive surveys for international representatives of global corporations in various fields all over the world. The companies all have at least 500 employees.
The first survey panel consisted of an internet survey among 2,500 human resource managers in international companies in 20 countries all over the world. The second panel consisted of 3,450 managing directors of international companies. They were asked to name the universities they consider best to prepare their students for employment. The placement on the list was a combination of the grades in the two panels. The list is considered to give an important insight into how well the universities are connected to the economy and society, and how well the students are prepared for participation in industry.
A total of 150 universities are on the list Higher Education Global University Employability Ranking; the University of Iceland is in 136 place as mentioned above. This is the first time that the University has a place on this list, however, it has been on the Times Higher Education World University Rankings list over the best universities world from 2011, and is currently in place 201-250.
This year California Institute of Technology is in first place on the list of global universities delivering work-ready graduates, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is in second place.
The list and the basis of the evaluation can be found on the Times Higher Education website.
