The University of Iceland the only Icelandic university on two of the most prestigious rankings
The strength of the university is further confirmed in its position on Shanghai rankings, where the university is at 501-600 according to ShanghaiRankingConsultancy, published this summer. ShanghaiRanking’s lists for subjects place the University of Iceland at number six in the world in the field of remote sensing, where digital photos form aeroplanes and satellites are processed to produce data about the Earth’s surface. The university is at number 40 in electric and computer engineering, among the top 150 in earth sciences and nursing, 151-200 in biological sciences, 2-300 in geography, human biology, political science and tourist studies, and at 301-400 in the fields of climate science, public health and clinical medicine. “It is very pleasing to see these great results of the University of Iceland on these important rankings by Times Higher Education. The overall strength of the University is apparent here as all five schools feature there. It is great to see that business and economics have made the lists, and that education science continues to rise on the rankings – featured for the first time last year. I congratulate all staff and students!” says Jón Atli Benediktsson, rector of the University of Iceland.
The new rankings can be found on the Times Higher Education's website.
