The University of Iceland would like to warn people about an online scam using our name. An English language website has been created that tries to trick visitors into enrolling at the University. People are then asked to provide payment information, apparently to pay the registration fee for UI.

At first glance the website looks legitimate but on closer inspection there are a lot of suspicious details. Online fraudsters seem to be adopting ever more sophisticated techniques.

This specific website, as with all other such internet scams, was created with the sole aim of tricking people into making payments or sending financial information that will be used for illegal purposes.

We urge people to avoid this website and under no circumstances enter any of your personal details. It is always wise to exercise caution online. Do not give websites any information about yourself if you have the slightest doubt about their legitimacy.

Please note that the only way to enrol for study at the University of Iceland is on our websites, www.hi.is and english.hi.is.
