Midway evaluation: Janus Hansen
Title of his thesis is “Biology and hydrology of streams in the Faroe Islands”
Abstract:
Freshwater ecosystems in the Faroe Islands are species poor and have not been studied in great detail. The present project on streams fills a part of this knowledge gap. Data has been produced on the physical attributes of the streams demonstrating that most of them are very short with variable discharge. A general overview of the biota of the streams is presented as well as detailed studies on the distribution of Caddisflies (Trichoptera) and the seasonal variation of non-biting midges (Chironomidae).
