An MS degree from the Faculty of Earth Sciences, or equivalent.
A three-year theoretical or experimental research-based postgraduate programme of studies in Earth Sciences at the Faculty of Earth Sciences, School of Engineering and Natural Sciences, University of Iceland. The programme provides at least 180 ECTS and qualifies for the degree of philosophiae doctor, Ph.D. Entrance requirements are a research-based MS degree or a comparable qualification.
The scope of the research project shall be 180 ECTS units. Doctoral studies are governed by special Faculty regulations. The doctoral programme is primarily based on the doctoral candidate's independent research, culminating in the dissertation.
