The Teaching Academy of Public Universities, in collaboration with the Teaching Centers of the University of Iceland and the University of Akureyri, will hold Teaching Days from March 17-21. The goal is to enhance the conversation about the importance of teaching and teaching development at the university level. The theme of the week is sustainability and the importance of teching capital at universities.
Various events will be offered, such as workshops, lectures, teaching visits, and collaboration with the Student Council.

Rector Candidates Panel Litla-Torg, 14:00-15:15
The Teaching Academy invites you to a panel discussion on the teaching resources of the university with candidates for the rector of the University of Iceland. In English.
Tuesday, March 18
Reflecting on Your Own Teaching Development in Academic Work Setberg - House of Teaching, Suðurberg, 3rd floor, 15:00-16:30
The event is in Setberg, and those planning to attend in person are asked to register. It will also be possible to follow along on Teams. Workshop led by the Teaching Development Manager and the Teaching Center of the University of Iceland.
Are you wondering about your role as a university teacher? Do you want to explore how you can develop in your job? Do you need to be able to explain your views and contributions to teaching for promotions, or applications to funds or academies?
In this interactive workshop, participants will tackle questions such as:
- How do I see my role as a university teacher?
- How do I view my teaching?
- How can I contribute to my own teaching development?
- What resources are available to me in my professional development?

Come and Learn a Teaching Method Setberg - House of Teaching, Suðurberg, 3rd floor, 12:00-13:00
The Teaching Center of the University of Iceland invites teachers to the lunchtime event "Come and Learn a Teaching Method." We will use the lunch hour to try out some teaching methods firsthand. This time we focus on methods that will lead to student collaboration. Coffee will be available, but bring your lunch. Led by Guðrún Geirsdóttir, Head of the Teaching Center.

Why Am I Teaching? Stapi building, Hringbraut, Room 210, 10:00-11:00
Ásta Bryndís Schram, Associate Professor and Teaching Development Manager of the Faculty of Health Sciences, presents the results of her research on teachers' motivation. She sheds light on what drives teachers to teach, what strengthens their self-image, and what creates identification with the teaching profession.
The event is in Room 210 of Stapi, and those planning to attend in person are asked to register. It will also be possible to follow along on Teams.
Writing Cases Oddi - Room 106, 10:30-11:15
Teachers' experiences with writing case studies – University Press and case study publication. Results of a project funded by the Teaching Fund are presented. Þröstur Olaf Sigurjónsson, Professor in the Faculty of Business Administration, and Jordan Mitchell, case writer and professional in case study writing, present the project's results where teachers tackled their first case study writing. The teachers themselves will also give short presentations about their experiences. The event starts with light refreshments at 10:30 and ends at 11:20.
Teaching Visits - Throughout the Week: Visit a Class! Event all week - registration for events at the University of Iceland and the University of Akureyri.
It can be quite enlightening to look into the teaching of fellow teachers and get new ideas about teaching practices. During Teaching Days, teachers have the opportunity to visit the classes of their colleagues and subsequently participate in a conversation about teaching and teaching development.
The University of Akureyri also offers teaching visits throughout the week. The school has strived to be a leader in flexible learning and has invested in a distance learning robot. Here, there is a very exciting and interesting opportunity to visit a classroom through the distance learning robot.
