The University of Iceland graduates students three times a year; in February, June, and October. The next graduation will take place on Saturday, 13 June 2026 at Frjálsíþróttahöllin in Laugardalur (The Athletics Hall). Graduates receive their certificates at a festive ceremony.
The graduation ceremony will be held in two stages and is open to both graduates and their guests.
Candidates are kindly asked to arrive no later than 30 minutes before each ceremony. Each candidate is welcome to bring two guests.
The first ceremony will begin at 10 a.m for candidates graduating from undergraduate and graduate studies from the School of Social Sciences, School of Health Sciences, and the School of Humanities.
The second one begins at 1.30 p.m. for candidates graduating from undergraduate and graduate studies from the School of Education and School of Engineering and Natural Sciences.
By taking part in the graduating ceremony graduates commit to stay until the ceremony is over.
Graduates will receive a letter with further information closer to the date.
University staff will be on-site and assist if needed.
Students who intend to graduate shall specify the graduation month well in advance of the scheduled graduation date. This can be done in the Ugla intraweb, when reviewing course registration, autumn and spring.
The candidates who cannot attend the ceremony can collect their certificates at the Service desk in the University Centre, after the ceremony.
