About UI alumni

The University of Iceland alumni are powerful advocates and have the school's best interests at heart. All students graduating from the University of Iceland are alumni, even if no formal registration has occurred.

The University of Iceland alumni work aims to strengthen and ensure the connection between the University, its former students, and benefactors. Moreover, the aim is to instil a sense of unity amongst students, both current and former and last but not least, to strengthen the University's ties to industry.

FAQ about alumni

The University considers alumni work an important factor in ensuring stronger connections between current and former students as well as others who want to strengthen and support the University of Iceland.

The idea is to make alumni work highly diverse, to instill a sense of unity amongst students, both current and former, to strengthen the University's ties to industry and in doing so gain powerful advocates and benefactors in society.

Targeted alumni work is an important part of fostering the University's network as a whole. The same holds true for the University's five schools and its numerous faculties.

In addition to building these networks, the University's alumni work also strengthens the school's image, for example, by spreading information about the diverse and important work conducted at our institution.

For us, all students graduating from the University of Iceland are alumni, even if no formal registration has taken place. This includes students who have graduated from institutions that merged with UI in the past.

Other benefactors of the University, who wish to stay connected to the school, are also considered alumni. This includes current and former staff members, businesses, institutions, and organisations.

Each individual can then decide for themselves how actively involved they wish to be in the University's alumni work.

News related to our alumni work is published in the University Newsletter published monthly and on the University's Facebook page. This is the best way to stay informed about ongoing alumni work. In addition, the latest news is posted on the University website on a regular basis.

There is no charge for being a UI alumnus/alumna.
