north2north

The University of Iceland is a member of the The University of the Arctic (UArctic) network and north2north is the mobility programme of the network.

Where can I go?

Students from the University of Iceland can apply for an exchange as a north2north student to most of the network partners.  Some north2north member universities can be applied to through other established mobility agreements with UI.

Students must independently research which institution they find most relevant to their field of study. Students at the University of Iceland can only apply for a full semester exchange through the north2north programme, not single courses or short mobility.

Who can apply?

To be eligible for participation in the north2north programme, students must meet UI’s general requirements for exchange studies and have permission from their faculty for the proposed exchange. Students must be enrolled in a study programme endorsed by UArctic or related to thematic categories of the programme. See more information about UArctic here.

The exchange placement through the north2north programme is competitive as students compete with students from other north2north institutions.

How to apply

To apply for exchange studies at the north2north partner universities students must apply by email to outgoing.international@hi.is by 1 February.

The email must be sent from a UI-email address and contain the following documents:

  • A recent transcript of records
  • A motivation letter
  • A list of up to 3 north2north universities in order of priority
