Requirements for incoming exchange students

To qualify for our exchange programme, you need to meet the following requirements:

• Your home university must have an agreement with the University of Iceland in your field of study.
• You must have completed 60 ECTS credits (or equivalent) at an undergraduate level at your home university before undertaking exchange studies.
• If you are a citizen of a country outside the EEA/EFTA whose native language is not English, you must submit proof of English proficiency by providing TOEFL or IELTS results. You will also submit a self-assessment of your English proficiency along with your application.

(To apply for exchange studies from UI and be an outgoing exchange student, whether it is a full-semester exchange, a single course, or a short stay, applicants must be currently enrolled at the University of Iceland and have paid the registration fee. Therefore, incoming exchange students and other guest students at the University of Iceland are not eligible to apply for any type of outgoing exchange from UI.)
