Healthy nutrition plays an important role in our busy lives. You can buy food and drink in most University buildings on campus and there is a wide selection available. The most popular venues, which are open to all, are:

  • Háma (UniFood)
  • Student Cellar (Stúdentakjallarinn)
  • Student cafés
  • Café Cuckoo
Locations and menus

Háma and the student cafés (kaffistofur stúdenta) offer a wide selection of food and drinks. If you can show a valid UI student card, you will get a discounts on meals, soup, and coffee cards.

Háma and the Bookstore Café in the University Centre are open all year round. All other Háma outlets close for the summer. 

Catering services in other buildings are open during term time.

The Háma canteens in the University Centre, the Centre for Technological Innovation, Stakkahlíð, and Læknagarður serve hot meals every weekday at lunchtime. All Háma canteens offer soup. 

The stock used for Háma's food contains no gluten or MSG. For all vegan dishes and soups, we only use vegan stock.

Háma "Corner of the World" (Háma heimshorn) is located at the Centre for Technological Innovation (Tæknigarður).

The restaurant offers a hot meal with a choice of side dish. Also on offer are the Háma 'Meal of the Day' as well as soups in self-serving stations (Canteen).

The Bookstore Café is in the University Bookstore in the University Centre.
The café serves a variety of coffee drinks and accompaniments.

Student-run catering services are also available at:

  • VR-II
  • Hagi

The Student Cellar (Stúdentakjallarinn) is a restaurant and bar in the basement of the University Centre.

It offers a diverse menu as well as great entertainment.

The Student Cellar is open 11 am - 11 pm from Sunday to Wednesday and 11 am - 1 am from Thursday to Saturday.

Located on the ground floor of Veröld - House of Vigdís.
Café Cuckoo (Kaffi Gaukur) is open from 8 am - 4 pm on weekdays.
