If you are financially supported by your parents, you will need to submit a statement of means of support, comprising the following three documents: A document from your parents stating that they are financially supporting you. This document must be in English, signed and dated, and attested by two witnesses. Scanned photocopies of your parents’ IDs, such as passports or driver’s licenses. A bank statement from your parents' bank account indicating their names, the currency, and the amount. The statement must be in English and dated within the last 2 weeks. If you have a scholarship/grant, you will need to provide confirmation in English or Icelandic from the scholarship provider. This document must include the your name as well as the date, currency, and total sum of the grant. If you want to use your own bank statement as proof of support it must be issued within the past 2 weeks and show your name, the currency, and total amount. The bank statement may be a written statement from the bank. If you are a Nordic citizen who will be studying in Iceland for an entire academic year or longer, you must register as officially resident in Iceland. You can only register your legal residence once you have arrived in the country.

If you are staying for one semester only, you need to register at the Service Desk in the University Centre when you get to Iceland.

Bring a passport or another valid ID and you will be given a username and password for Ugla, the University's intranet.

If you are staying for one semester, you just need to provide proof of your own health insurance in order to be covered in Iceland. A European Health Insurance Card from a public health insurance provider is sufficient.

After you have submitted A-251 to Registers Iceland, you can apply for an E-104 to bring back to your home country. Fill in an application and send it to international@sjukra.is.

All students who have received income in Iceland, including wages, grants, or other forms of remuneration, must file a tax return to the Directorate of Internal Revenue (RSK) annually and no later than one week before leaving the country. If you are an exchange student, one academic transcript will be sent to your home university. All students can purchase extra copies of academic transcripts at the Service Desk in the University Centre.
