Abstract

I am a Professor in Mechanical Engineering and my main research topics are related to biomechanics and bioengineering. The research in biomechanics are in close collaboration with the Department of Physical Therapy and the prosthetics company Össur Inc. It is about developing a novel prosthesis with bionic control so the users can control them as their activities changes during the day. I am also involved in collaborative projects with people in the biosciences. The research is on biotechnology, developing photo-bioreactors for growing microbes and using local biomaterials, e.g. kelp, for medical purposes. Most of these projects are interdisciplinary and involves scientist from other faculties as well as progressive companies.
