Abstract

I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Midwifery, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Iceland. My Ph.D. research focused on birth outcomes and the experiences of migrant women with midwifery care in Iceland. The study provides valuable insights into improving maternity services for women from diverse backgrounds. My work uses both quantitative and qualitative methods to explore how language barriers, cultural sensitivity, and communication affect maternity care and birth outcomes. I am also involved in midwifery education, contributing to curriculum development and teaching. I co-founded the Reykjavík Birth Center, where I provide prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care. My research interests include preparation for birth, pain management, and developing measures for evaluating midwifery services. Over the years, I have participated in both national and international conferences, sharing findings aimed at improving maternity care and communication with women during childbirth. My work focuses on supporting women and ensuring they receive respectful and individualized care throughout their maternity experience.
