Abstract

My research is mainly in Computational Fluid Dynamics. I have worked on developing new numerical methods and also been applying known robust methods on practical applications. When developing new numerical methods I have been using Levelset to track irregular interfaces and a hybrid finite difference and finite volume method to enforce the correct boundary conditions at the correct location. When applying robust numerical methods on practical applications I have worked with swirl flow, slush flow and flow in a high-pressure fish cutter to name a few applications. I have advised several master’s degrees and I am in the advising committee of several PhD students. I have also organized and participated in several research studies on how to improve teaching in higher education. I was one of the founding members of the Icelandic Teaching academy in 2021. I have been a board member in Engineering Institute at University of Iceland since 2015. I have also been the head of the department of Mechanical Engineering for a few years. I have also participated in several other administrative tasks at the University of Iceland.
