    In this workshop, Adams will introduce the basics of autoethnography, a method for doing social research that uses personal experience to study cultural experience. He will identify the unique methodological practices and contributions of autoethnography, demonstrate how it can be used to study different social issues, and review current debates and developments about the method. Ample time will be reserved for audience interaction.

    Bio:

    Dr. Tony Adams (PhD, University of South Florida) is Caterpillar Professor and Chair of Communication at Bradley University. He has written four books and edited six books, and his writing has been translated from English to Spanish, German, Greek, and Japanese. He is the Executive Director of the International Association of Autoethnography and Narrative Inquiry, co-editor of the Writing Lives: Ethnographic Narratives book series (Routledge), and founding co-editor of the Journal of Autoethnography (University of California Press). In 2023, he created a Certificate in Autoethnography at Bradley University, an online six-week course about autoethnography designed for learners located anywhere in the world.
