ow do early career teachers fare in compulsory school teaching? - Symposium

The symposium - How do early career teachers fare in compulsory school teaching? Will be held on 28 May 2025. It is dedicated to two interview studies about early career teachers, one focused on male teachers and one focused on female teachers. In both cases, the interviews were conducted over a two year period of time. The data was analyzed in regard to theories on novice teaching and mentoring and research of gender and education. Members of the research group, Ingólfur Ásgeir Jóhannesson professor emeritus and Valgerður S. Bjarnadóttir assistant professor, both in School of Education at the University of Iceland, provide an introductory lecture. Sigrún Gunnarsdóttir professor in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Iceland. Three of the research group participants, practitioning teachers, and two participants from the Icelandic Teachers‘ Union participate in a panel discussion.
