Classroom for Group studies

Students at UI can book a classroom for a group project or a group study. Rooms for group study can be booked once a week for up to three hours. If two or more rooms are booked during the same week, a charge will be applied to all requested rooms. Contact kennslustofur@hi.is to book a room. When submitting a booking request, students are required to provide: their name, ID number (kennitala) the course title and number names of all participants in the group The student requesting the room holds responsibility for the group unless otherwise stated. The student responsible for the group must ensure that everyone treats the space with respect, does not bring food, and leaves the room as they found it, i.e. tables and chairs as they were, doors and windows closed, projectors turned off. Please note that requests to use rooms must be sent at least 2-3 hours in advance, assuming normal working hours.

Requests to book rooms for uses other than regular courses or meetings held by UI faculties / institutes / student organisations) should be sent to kennslustofur@hi.is

It is essential to include the name and national ID number of the person making the booking, the date and time requested and the preferred capacity of the room/auditorium.

Meetings are expected to take place in a single room and may not last longer than three hours.

Faculty offices are responsible for reserving rooms for regular courses as per the course catalogue and meetings held by UI faculties, institutes and student organisations.

There is no fee for staff to book a room for a meeting. However, there will be a fee if the services of a caretaker are required.

Guest accommodation can be booked via email: gestaibudir@hi.is.

The University of Iceland has several rooms on campus intended for the use of visiting scholars. The rooms are only available for those with a clear connection to the University and the booking request must come from a UI employee. All the rooms are located in the north wing of a building called Saga on Hagatorg. Please note that there is still ongoing construction in the south wing.

You must behave responsibly at all times and treat the University's facilities and equipment with respect. Smoking is prohibited inside UI buildings and near the entrances and doorways.
