Opportunity to gain international experience

Erasmus+ gives students of European universities a unique opportunity to gain international academic experience and advantages on the labour market. The new programme promotes equal opportunities to study abroad by providing supplementary grants for students with disabilities or illness.

Students can apply for two types of grants:

Erasmus+ exchange study grants allow students to take courses at one of UI's partner universities, which are evaluated for credits upon return to Iceland.

The application deadline is 1 April each year. Late applications are accepted, but applications submitted before the deadline will be prioritised.

Erasmus+ traineeship grants allow students to work on specific projects, related to their studies, at a company or institution. Students can apply for a grant for a traineeship in any one of the Erasmus+ participating countries, which include most EEA/EU countries and their territories.

You can apply for an Erasmus+ traineeship grant all year round. However, those who apply before 1 April for the next academic year have priority. While funding is available, all those who apply will be allocated a grant, provided that all the conditions for the traineeship are met and all required documentation is submitted.

For further information on the benefits of studying abroad and a checklist for applicants, go to Erasmus+ in the side menu of this page.
