Annual course registration for the upcoming academic year (autumn and spring semesters) takes place in March each year. All UI students must register during the annual registration period, including graduate students.
The registration fee of ISK 75,000 must be paid alongside the annual course registration. The fee can be paid online by card, either the entire sum at once or by credit payment plan.
If the registration fee is not paid by the due date the student is considered to have withdrawn from the study programme.
New students enrolling in the spring semester (in January) are charged a reduced registration fee of ISK 55,000. Students with a certified disability are also charged a reduced fee of ISK 55,000.
If a faculty permits a student to take leave from studies for one academic year, the student pays ISK 10,000.
Please note: Unfortunately, it is not likely that citizens outside the EEA/EFTA will be able to start a study programme at the University of Iceland in the spring semester. This is due to the fact that the Directorate of Immigration requires residence permit applications to be submitted no later than 1 November in order to issue permits before the start of spring semester classes.
