The University of Iceland charges an annual registration fee for all active students.
The university does not offer any funding or scholarships to prospective students.
Applicants from countries outside of EEA/EFTA applying for study at UI are required to pay a handling and processing fee.
Please note: The Icelandic government has authorised universities to introduce tuition fees for students from countries outside the EEA/EFTA and Switzerland, effective from the Autumn semester of 2027. Tuition fees will NOT apply to students who start their studies in autumn 2026, nor to students who are currently enrolled at the University of Iceland. Doctoral (PhD) programmes are exempt from tuition fees, as are students who hold permanent residence permits in Iceland. The tuition fee levels have not yet been determined and may vary between study programmes.
Please note that this information is subject to change pending final decisions by the Icelandic authorities.
All fees are non-refundable and there are no exemptions made for payments.
