Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering

At the undergraduate level, our Faculty offers programmes in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. The curriculum includes numerous practical laboratory courses and we strive to prepare our students for employment or advanced study in their diverse engineering field.

Master's projects are a substantial component of the master's programme. A Master's project involves the student working on a defined project, often in relation to a business or institution, where the student uses his/her knowledge to analyse and solve a problem, presenting the results in the form of a dissertation.

A variety of opportunities exist for research grants in Master's programmes. Amongst other things, it is the role of the supervisor to obtain such grants.

The programmes take at least three years to fulfil if taken as full time study.

Applicants need to have found a supervisor and have an idea of a project before applying.

Prospective applicants are asked to contact the Head of Department or Faculty in the relevant research field.

Certified copies of diplomas on paper (not scanned or photocopies) must be submitted no later than two weeks after the application deadline.

Research

Research in the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering are carried out under the auspices of the Engineering Research Institute.

Lecturers at the faculty work on a variety of theoretical and practical research projects in collaboration with business and institutions in the Icelandic professional sector. They are also very active in the international research community.
