Doctoral studies in midwifery provide knowledge, skills, and training in independent working methods for conducting scientific research in performing practical work at both domestic and international level.

About the Programme

The doctorate in Midwifery is a three-year research programme of full-time study following completion of a Master's degree. The doctoral thesis should be 180 ECTS but students can take additional courses of 30 ECTS. 

Objectives

  • To provide students with training and insight into the research methods of nursing and related subjects.
  • That the student acquires a thorough knowledge in their field of study.

The objective of doctoral studies is to provide the doctoral student with training and insight into the research methods of nursing, and related studies.

Admission requirements

Graduate studies

To enroll in doctoral studies in Midwifery at the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, students must have completed an MS in Midwifery or another qualification deemed equivalent by the research-based study committee.
